Bardstown Elementary School is pleased to announce Tabitha Edelen as the new guidance counselor.
“Mrs. Edelen’s focus on serving others and her passion for providing guidance to students make her a significant addition to the counseling office,” said Brian Courtney, principal of Bardstown Elementary.
Edelen is currently a fourth grade teacher at Bardstown Elementary School. She began her career in education at BCS in 2007 and will bring more than 16 years of teaching experience to her new role as guidance counselor. During her tenure at Bardstown Elementary, Edelen has served in a variety of leadership roles as a representative on the school safety committee and as the English Language Arts and Science Professional Learning Leads. Additionally, Mrs. Edelen has aided in numerous district initiatives by serving on the professional development and Bardstown Graduate committees as well as the College, Career and Community Writers Program.
“I am extremely honored to be named School Counselor of Bardstown Elementary School,” said Edelen. “Bardstown City Schools has a tradition of excellence, and I plan to continue building relationships with our students, teachers and staff, families, and community. My goal is to lead empathetically while serving and supporting our students, teachers, and staff to ensure our students succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and in life.”
Edelen holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Kentucky University, a master’s degree and Rank I in school counseling from Western Kentucky University. She also holds a professional certificate for instructional leadership from the Education Professional Standards Board.
Edelen will replace BES Guidance Counselor Tammy Masters who is retiring after serving BES students for more than 33 years. Mrs. Edelen will assume the role of counselor on 11/1/22.
